Be A Malyali: Image
Be a Malayali while in Kerala - God's own country
There are a lot of perks of being a Malayali. We have an endless supply of banana chips and we speak a language most people just cannot seem to grasp. What's more? Our culture is very rich. Quite literally, we love our gold. We drink like a fish, our movies are better than Bollywood and our food is to die for. In a nutshell, we're quite desirable. In fact, we're so awesome that people either want to be with us or want to be like us. So if at some point in your life, you've wanted to be an awesome Malayali (like yours truly), just follow these zimple things:
Firstly, learn the basic words
Ayyo, Chuma, Kashtam, Chetta, Chechi, Poda, Sheri.

Ayyo - Literal Translation - Oh Shit !!
A reaction to express surprise
If you're a guy, start growing a beard. Nothing says Malayali like facial hair does.
That little Thorthu ; a small white piece of cloth is a light bath towel, which you will find in every Malayali’s wardrobe.
Ladies, buy a kasavu saree and wear it on every occasion to show you're a true Malayali.
As for men, buy a MCR kasavu mundu and wear it with a jubba.
While you're at it, learn how to roll it up and tie it as well.
Learn how to pronounce Pazham, Mazha, Uralakizhangu and other such words. If you know how to say these words, you should be fine.
Buy & wear a lot of gold - rings, earrings, bangles, chains... Anything you can get your hands on.
Train your liver so that you can drink like a fish. But on a serious note, The water variety to drink with your meal here is simply astounding. On a hot summer day warm (sometimes nearly hot) baby pink coloured water Karingal vellam (vellam meaning water) is served. Fret not, this is just water infused with indigenous herbs, roots, bark and seeds.
Change your name. Give yourself the most Malayali name like Gifty or Jessy.
On Onam, go crazy with the sadhya.
Start using coconut - grated, shavings, chunks - in everything, in all shapes and form.
Make sure you put a little bit of coconut oil in everything, everyday.
This might just turn out to be a wonderful way to engage yourself with the local community .
It’s a thrill once you get along like a local !
